Protesting against the celebration of Ayudha Pooja in Government offices, the Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam has petitioned City Police Commissioner A.Amalraj to ban such festivities and celebrations in Government offices during Ayudha Pooja, which is observed on September 29th.

Arguing that India is a secular country with secular fabric which is shared by people of vast religious diversity and celebration of Ayudha Pooja, a Hindu festival in Government offices would tantamount to violating the spirit of the constitution, Ramachandran, the District Secretary of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam has stated in his petition.
“Celebrating such religious festivals in government offices is on the rise in the recent years, despite a government stricture against it, the petitioner said and added that the police department should also steer away from celebrating Ayudha Pooja in all the police stations in the city”, the petitioner said.
